PROJECT ME

Among helping others and random acts of kindness with Dear Ethiopia, we are focusing specifically on the development of two women and their families: Mekdes & Emabet (ProjectME).

As of May 2017 we are going be catering to the specific development of these two women and their families. In the gallery above you are able to meet the beautiful faces of Mekdes (mother) and Selam (daughter), and Emabet (mother) and Bereket (daughter). Both of these women are best friends, as well as their daughters and have has to survive some very tough times. I met Emabet on my first trip in 2014 while I was conducting my social work internship, and then the following year while researching I met Mekdes!

Over these passed two trips I've been introduced to many beautiful faces, but we'd like to focus on the development of these two families for longevity. Our goal is to have weekly counseling, making sure their girls are in school, stable income, spiritual growth, as well as happiness. I try to send a monthly donation via western union to help with their rent, food, and school fees. If you to donate towards these two families on their month-to-month support please just leave a comment on your donation in the donate tab. I am leaving for Ethiopia at the end of the summer and I am also collecting money donations as well as physical donations for these two families as well as the Ethiopian family connect that devotes themselves to helping me deliver the monthly contributions. Below I have created profiles where you can get to know them on a more personal level, and their individual needs as far as donation wise. There will be a list of items they are asking for me to bring when I go to Ethiopia or send a supplement for them to purchase on their own. After you read a brief description you can click their photos to reads more about their story.

In the photo you can see mother, Nigist and daughter Lewi pictured (in the pink hat). Lewi is our Ethiopian Contact for Dear Ethiopia and is our "eyes" and "hands" while I am in the U.S. Nigist, married mother of 6 is the counselor that the women visit and also often drops the money gram  donations on her visits via Western Union. Both of them sacrifice so much of their time pouring not only to these two families but anyone who is need. More often then not, there is someone staying over for dinner and advice.
They don't know this, but God has put it on my heart to bless them tremendously this summer for they years of labor. They exemplify the complete love of Christ, sown in tears and will doing anything for anyone in need without grumble or complaints. I'd like to possible help with Lewi's school fees (which are $50 monthly) as well as many other things such as clothes, electronics, and other supplement. Without them Dear Ethiopia can only go far and so little, click the button below to find out more about the family and their needs. You can also see a few videos of items that were purchased already on their behalf! Thank you!
